Debt Surveillance

What Is Long-Term Debt Surveillance?

The Long-Term Debt Surveillance service (known by its Polish abbreviation DNW) is the last stage of the process of receivables collection, following either immediately after the pre-court collection carried out by Intrum or after unsuccessful collection by a court enforcement officer. It also covers the receivables whose collection is not possible at the moment or is not viable economically, for example due to the small value of the debt. This concerns all kinds of receivables owed by natural and self-employed persons. All the DNW receivables are monitored by us over several or even over 10 years and the debt is repaid as soon as the debtor's financial situation permits it. The effects we achieve are the result of systematic and consistent attitude to starting the negotiations with debtors, which often leads to settlements. On the basis of those settlements, receivables are repaid even in small instalments over a period of many months. We are aided by an advanced IT system that "sees" to timely payment, oversees the accruing of interest, etc. The principles of DNW operation are devised in such way that the debtor should be aware all the time of the creditor's determination in collecting the debt, even after it becomes subject to limitation or after the completion of unsuccessful enforcement by court officer.

What will my costs be?

All the payments received from the debtors are only subject to commission for the benefit of Intrum, at 50% of the value of the amounts collected (this covers the previously incurred court costs, interest and the principal amount). The foregoing does not apply to a situation in which Intrum deems it advisable to institute court or enforcement proceedings against the debtor. In such case, it is Intrum that covers the costs incurred and only later the payments are credited first of all to reimbursement of such costs. This means that the Long-Term Debt Surveillance service generates costs to Client only after the receipt of payment from debtor. Therefore the Client does not need to tie up its funds in the process and is merely required to supply data regarding the debtors to Intrum (in electronic format).

How do we succeed?

Our successes are the result of a carefully devised and consistently implemented process of negotiations with the debtors.
